A manufacturing issue has caused difficulties in steering that could result in crashes.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a safety recall order regarding Honda cars and SUVs with a manufacturing defect that causes the steering wheel to stick.
The order states that incorrectly assembled steering gearboxes may cause “excessive internal friction” that may make the steering wheel harder to turn and increase the possibility of crashing. NHTSA originally investigated the issue in the spring, and had no reports of crashes or injuries at the time.
Honda’s recall covers certain Acura Integras, Honda Civics, Honda CR-Vs, and Honda HR-Vs from model years 2022 to 2025.
